Hand held scanning (wanding) authorisations

The following information relates to authorisations made by senior police officers allowing police to use hand held scanners to detect knives or other weapons on persons at public transport stations and Safe Night Precincts under Chapter 2, Part 3A, Jack's Law, of the Police Powers and Responsibilities Act 2000 (PPRA).

The Police Commissioner is required to publish this information under section 39J ‘Notice of hand held scanner authority to be published' of the PPRA.

Inquiries about an authorisation can be directed in the first instance to the Officer in Charge of the police station responsible for the area to which the authorisation relates.
