Due to the imminent landfall of Cyclone Alfred the exhibition space and museum office will be closed on Thurs (6/3) and Fri (7/3). Please stay safe and dry.
In 1864 Queensland became the fifth state to gain its own police department and since then every element of policing practice has evolved dramatically. The Queensland Police Museum (QPM) is dedicated to collecting, documenting, preserving and exhibiting the history of policing in this state.
The QPM, on the ground floor of Queensland police headquarters, is open to the public 9am to 4pm Monday to Thursday and 10am to 3pm on the last Sunday of the month (Feb-Nov). We are not open on public holidays or for the two weeks of the Christmas/New Year break.
The exhibition space incorporates 25 displays illustrating a range of policing themes. Our public programs include a tailored education program and monthly presentations featuring guest speakers from historical and crime-solving fields. The QPM uses its archival resources, exhibitions and public programs to compare policing of today and of yesterday.
