Below are some common questions relating to wide load escorts.
- When do you need to cancel a wide load?
-
You must contact the QPS in the event of a cancellation.
See Cancelling and rescheduling for more information.
-
The officer has not arrived for a wide load, what do I do?
-
If an officer has not arrived for a wide load, you need to make contact with the QPS.
You would have received an approval with your application, this approval provides a list of phone numbers to contact if required.
- What is required when the load dimensions differ from those on the permit?
-
The dimensions listed on your permit are the absolute maximums allowed.
If your final measurements are lower than what is on your permit, you can still travel if you comply with all conditions on the permit, including police and escort requirements.
If the final measurements exceed what is listed on your permit, you must get a new permit to legally travel. You will need to contact NHVR to arrange this.
Under no circumstances are police officers to be removed from a load without a change in the NHVR permit accompanying re-assessment of police consent.
- How many police are required?
-
The number of police will be specified on your NHVR permit.
If you do not have a permit yet, the number of police will typically be what is listed in the Pilot and Escort Operations in Queensland, with some exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
For any policing queries, please contact this office.
- What order do police/escorts need to follow?
-
The Pilot and Escort Operations in Queensland covers this information.
