Occupational - Prawn/Fish farm

You must provide the following documents as evidence of your genuine reason for a firearms licence:

• Business plan – Copy of your business plan with business name – only include pages relevant to the following: Addressing Risk, Police Contact, Firearm Use and Community Safety
• Business public liability insurance – Copy of your public liability insurance
• Prawn and Fish Farm Mitigation Permit – A copy of your Damage Mitigation permit indicating bird problems exist that require the use of firearms on a prawn/fish farm.

• Business/Employer letterhead – A current and signed letter on a business letterhead verifying:

  • the reason why firearms are necessary
  • the position held by the applicant
  • the category of firearms required to use
  • the nature of the duties undertaken in the conduct of your business/occupation.

If you are the employee of a prawn or fish farm, your employer provides this information.

Applying online: You may notice that this genuine reason also requires the completion of a Form 1 – Annexure for Occupational/Employment.  You will need to supply a Form 1 – Annexure for Occupational/Employment with your online application however, if you apply hard copy, this will not be required.
