Firearms Licence (Cat A, B & C)

You have chosen to apply for a Firearms Licence (Cat A, B & C) for Sport of Target Shooting. To support your application, you will need to provide:

  1. Proof of address (Queensland Drivers Licence, rates notice or electricity bill).
  2. Your statement of attainment for an approved firearms safety course, covering the category of weapon you’re applying for.
  3. Proof of current financial membership of an approved Queensland shooting club.
  4. Details of any medical condition endorsed on your Queensland Drivers Licence.
  5. A current passport-quality photograph.

For Category C you will also need to provide:

  1. Proof of current financial membership of an approved Queensland shooting club for clay target shooting.
  2. A medical report from your doctor explaining why you have a physical need to use a Category C shotgun for the sport of clay target shooting. For example, this could be due to limited strength or dexterity or because of a medical condition.

Important information

To make sure that your application is assessed as quickly as possible it is important that the information you supply to us is correct and complete, and that your supporting documentation is uploaded to your application or forwarded to Weapons Licensing within 28 days from submitting the online application. You are strongly encouraged to contact your local club or dealer about assisting you to complete your licence application, and to ensure the required documentation is submitted. If your application does not meet our requirements it could be refused or there could be substantial delays while we seek further information from you.

Please be advised that this online service can only be used for the purpose of applying for a NEW licence. If you are an existing Weapons Licence holder you can use the online forms to apply for an additional type of Weapons Licence otherwise, if you want to renew your Weapons Licence please see the renewals section for information on how to do this.
